Additional Points (optional)
One per line. Only name, lon, lat is required. Shapes: star, triangle, circle, square, diamond, cross/plus, x.
Polygon Shape (mode=polygon only, one 'lon, lat' per line)
Blank line + a name line starts a new area: name[,color[,show_label[,show_in_legend]]] -- e.g. "Box 1,orange,false,true" labels it orange, hides the on-map label, keeps it in the legend. All three are optional and default to the shared color / true / true.
Map
Inland / Freshwater Area (lakes, rivers, land -- not open ocean)
Check this for any land-locked site. It swaps in the OpenStreetMap basemap and stops the Countries layer from painting over everything.
EPSG
Scale (1:x)
Buffer Percent
Pads the view out beyond your Box/Point/Polygon shape so it isn't cropped tight to the edges -- e.g. 100% roughly triples the width/height shown, 200% roughly quintuples it. Higher = more surrounding area, zoomed further out.
Geometry Mode
Point -- sized like Box below, but never draws the box outline
Box -- draws a box from a center point + width/height below
Polygon -- exact corner coordinates you type in below
Extent Width (x)
Extent Height (y)
Extent Unit
Extent Width/Height/Unit apply in Point and Box mode (Point just never draws the box outline) -- Polygon mode ignores them, since its shape comes from the coordinates you type in below instead.

Locator Zoom (extent factor)
How far out the mini map zooms relative to the main map's extent. Higher = more zoomed out, more surrounding context. Default 15.
